I have not yet installed SP1, but I can say that with my original Vista I got a goodly improvement in move/copy speed by disabling Remote Differential Compression: Control Panel| Programs and Features| Turn Windows features on or off| Uncheck Remote Differential Compression. Have found no adverse impact of disabling RDC. Not sure what I will find when I go to SP1, but it is definitely helping me now. Give it a try....
