| | vista 30 seconds slow after installing vs2008 after installing visual studio 2008, it takes 20-30 more seconds for the windows orb to come after the progress is shown at boot. A black screen with a busy cursor is shown for 20 seconds and then the orb comes. The Visual Studio 2008 is installed without the SQL express option. Any suggestions? Otherwise I have to trash vista and move to xp sp2. 1 GB RAM, Vista Business |

| | Re: vista 30 seconds slow after installing vs2008 Turn off the Aero theme and it will boot better (not to mention compile speed). 1 gig is a bit small for Vista Aero and V.S. Giving up the Vista test bed for your apps is not really a good alternative. -- Was this helpful? Then click the Ratings button. | | Re: vista 30 seconds slow after installing vs2008 The Vista aero is already turned off (by disabling the theme service). I am telling about the 20-30 second slowdown after installing Visual Studio 2008 "Mark L. | | RE: vista 30 seconds slow after installing vs2008 Since your time is so valuable and 20 seconds is a penalty you can't afford, why shut down at all? Sleep mode on my system wakes up with a functional wireless connection in less than 15 seconds. I agree with the other poster in that you should review Vista's and VS2008's requirements in regard to memory, CPU, etc. Or go to XP while it is still supported. SP3 will make it even better.
