Vista - Having Trouble Copying Files

This seems quite odd to me. I must be missing something.
I am using VISTA ULTIMATE

I have a folder that Windows Explorer clearly shows as existing on a
hard drive. It contains an installation .exe file which when I double
click on it, it seems to execute just fine. The installation even
works with other files in the same folder.

Yet when I try to copy or move or delete the folder or files in it, I
get a window saying it cannot be found. I can relegate it to the
recycle bin however.

What is going on?
