Hidden Icons

Since SP1 for Vista Ultimate, it seems the Hide/Hide when inactive/Show
setting are lost on occasion for certain Notification icons. Also there is
one icon that shows up that I have no idea whewre it comes from and I am
consequently unable to delete whatever program is generating it. It always
has the little red circle with the diagonal line through it.

Hi Tom,

You might try resetting the Notification icons to clean out the old stuff to see if it helps remember your hide/show settings. This tutorial will show you how if needed.

Notification Icons - Reset

The red circle with the diagonal line through it sounds like the icon for Ad-Aware from Lavasoft.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

RE: Hidden Icons

Hover your cursor over it, and see what comes up in writing about it.
If nothing comes up, probably spyware.

You can also right-click on it to see what options it gives you.

RE: Hidden Icons

Thanks. Nothing when hovering or right clicking. I run the normal gamut of
spyware detection programs and nothing has shown up for quite some time.
