April Vista Updates broke several PCs

Has anyone else had problems with windows updates released in April
2008 for the Vista platform?

I have several PCs running Vista SP1 and using ForeFront security
client. Following a restart after windows updates were applied none of
the PCs running Vista SP1 and using ForeFront security client could
access either the internet or the local network. It was as though the
network card was disabled.

I have other Vista SP1 systems that are not using ForeFront and they
are fine. This leads me to suspect that it is the combination of
ForeFront and Vista SP1 which is the cause.

To resolve the issue we used system restore to revert to a state prior
to the Windows update but I would like to understand what has happened
here. I do not know if reapplying the updates breaks the system again.

Re: April Vista Updates broke several PCs

You should simply reinstall the driver for the net card.
A device driver is not installed, or a hardware device does not function
correctly after you install Windows Vista Service Pack 1:

There have been posts where SP1 cauess network issues. It's usually
solved be deleting the network card from Device Manager and then letting
Vista redetect it.
