Power button in the Start menu

When I click Start, I have a yellow power button which, when clicked, puts
the computer in a low power mode - I have to click the arrow next to that
button to get an option to actually Shut Down.

How do I get the Shut Down option to appear first (i.e. how do I get the
button to shut the computer down when clicked) and put the low power state in
the menu of other options which are accessed when you click the arrow next to
the power button?

Re: Power button in the Start menu

In Control Panel/"Power Options", look in the Tasks pane to the left for
"Choose What The Power Button Does". Set the drop box for "Shut down"

Re: Power button in the Start menu

I've looked at it and it's on "Shut Down" anyway - I think that screen is
about what the actual physical buttons on my desktop basestation do when
pressed, as opposed to the buttons on the start menu.

Hello,

Step 8 in this tutorial will show you how to set the power button in the Start menu to "Shutdown" the computer when clicked.

Power Button

To make sure that you have "Sleep" in the arrow menu, check that your Power Plan Options are set the same for "Sleep" in Step Two of this tutorial.

Hope this helps you,

Re: Power button in the Start menu

No, I think you will find the icon changes as you change that dropbox.
