| | Windows Mobile Devices -- can't sync different software on differentmachines?? Under XP, I used to sync my Calendar, Tasks, Contacs, and OneNote Mobile on my Dell Axim 51v (WM5) on a machine at my office, where all those apps live. I also synced it to a personal machine at home, but only for PhatNotes, since I don't have Office installed on my personal home machine. This worked fine for years. Now I've upgraded my office machines to Vista, and discovered a "feature": If you partner with two PC's, they must both synch to exactly the same applications! So now I'm hosed, since it doesn't seem appropriate to install my personal software on a work machine, nor install work software on my personal machine at home. Why would someone design WMDC this way? I cannot come up with a technical reason or even a marketing reason for it. Is there any plan for this to be fixed? Thanks for listening. |
