| | how to run chkdsk My hard drive appears to have some bad sectors and I would like to run chkdsk with /f to fix the problem but don't know how to do this as I need to run this program in elevated mode. If I try to run the program in Command prompt or Run?chkdsk /f I am told I do not have the previlidges to run it. Anyone know how I can run this program? |

| | Re: how to run chkdsk Shawn's instructions worked for me. You might try jumping ahead to the thing that will work: Boot up from a Vista Repair Disk. It gives you a stand alone system that looks like Vista but is separate and doesn't lock or open files, causing CHKDSK to gripe.
