| | UPGRADE WORKS PERFECTLY I WAS PLEASENTLY SURPRISED TO SEE MICROSOFT HAS GOT THE UPGRADE OPTION SORTED OUT. I THOUGHT I WOULD BE A DEVIL AND GIVE THE PRE RC1 A WHIRL VIA UPGRADE RATHER THAN CLEAN INSTALL EXPECTING MANY PROBLEMS. EVERY THING WORKS PERFECTLY SO FAR APART FROM PC CHILLIN WHICH I HAD TO REINSTALL. |

| | Re: UPGRADE WORKS PERFECTLY There is no need to 'yell' Neil (with CAPITALS). On the other hand, great to hear it went well. | | Re: Upgrade Works Perfectly Know what you mean about the caps now I've read it on the board! Stricktly a low case man from now on. It took going on for an hour start to finish. There was a new option during the pre install that asked if I wanted to let Windows conntect to the internet during the installation for up to date installation files. I said it could do this and for the first fifteen minutes or so it was doing some pretty intensive downloading. Did that happen on the clean install? Neil. Yes I started the install from the XP desktop. I allowed it to download the extra install files (that took about a minute) and then did a custom install to a second partition. Worked seamlessly. Maybe yours took longer as it might have needed extra files being it an upgraded over XP? |

| | Re: UPGRADE WORKS PERFECTLY My updgrade install took almost 4 hours although it went without a hitch. Generally things are much better except that I am no longer able to install the XP driver for my 32 mb ATI 128 rage ultra graphic chip. I'm stuck with Standard VGA. Also Pc Cillin doesn't work "Beck" <beck@none> wrote in message news:%23aW2cFOzGHA.4104@TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... > > "Neil Maley" <NeilMaley@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > news:EC714A1B-D69D-47C0-941D-BC832EE883F5@microsoft.com... >>I WAS PLEASENTLY SURPRISED TO SEE MICROSOFT HAS GOT THE UPGRADE OPTION >>SORTED >> OUT.
