PC has stopped working

I recently built a new gaming PC running Windows Vista Home Premium. I got
everything installed and running properly and it worked great for about a
week. Then, a couple days ago everything started to go pear shaped. I
wanted to wake the PC up from sleep mode, when I hit the power button, the
case fans and everything came on, but the monitor wouldn't come on and
nothing came up. I gave it a couple minutes to see if it was just slow, but
nothing was happening. So I powered down the PC manually and restarted it.
When I restarted it, it seemed like everything was okay as it came up, I
briefly saw a message that said something like "No any drive found" or
something. When windows came up, it said it was installing updates like it
had when I first installed windows. However, it eventually got to a screen
where it said "installing updates step 3 of 3. 0% complete. It would stay
on this screen for about a minute, and then it would re-start the computer.
The cycle would then repeat itself. I let it go through this about 10 times
to see if it would work itself out but it never did. This is all that
happens when I power on the PC now. Even if I start in safe mode it still
does this. Any ideas on how to get it running normally again without
formatting and re-installing Vista?

RE: PC has stopped working

Hey there Molten,

It sounds like you may actually have a bad hard drive. If this is a new
build, you should be able to return it for an exchange. And also, they may
be able to dupe the drive contents from the old to the new so you don't have
to reload. But if it's coming up with a drive not found error, I would start
there.

Best Regards,

Will
