Downloading to desktop

How do I stop Vista downloading to my desktop?
How can I tell a download to go to a new folder/location

What is Vista downloading? Normally when you download a file, it asks where
do you want to store it.

When you get to the "Save As" box click "Browse Folders" and navigate to
where you want your file downloaded. Then click save.

Using Firefox? The options preferences for the Download Manager are
accessible by opening the
Downloads section of the Main panel in the OptionsPreferences window.
They allow you to change several downloading optionspreferences.
I never download using any other browser.
