Dreamscene previews not always available

When I go to select a Dreamscene in my Vista Ultimate 32-bit desktop
background settings, some of the scenes are represented by a mini preview
but most are only represented by the default MPEG icon without a preview.
This means I can only see what they look like by actually choosing them and
waiting for them to install.

Is there a way to get them all to show previews? I realise this is only a
minor problem but it's annoying nonetheless.

Re: Dreamscene previews not always available

What you write about is a bug in Vista.
I could not get a preview of some of the items either.
However, you can go to
C:\Windows\Web\Windows DreamScene
and open the mpeg files with your Media Player to see their content.
Rename them accordingly. From this time on you'll be able to identify them more easily.

I've had the same problem since my installation in February of 2007 and
all subsequent reinstalls since that time. Microsoft has been aware of the
problem since it was first reported and they have chosen to do nothing about
it. I don't expect them to address the problem in the future either.
When Microsoft chooses to ignore a problem you're out of luck forever.
I simply ignore it, just as Microsoft does.
