| | .mht file extention I am running Windows Vista Home Premium Edition and IE7. For the past year I have never had any problem saving a web page thru IE& for off- line reading,. The file was always saved as a “Web Archive, Single file (*.mht).” I must have done something wrong in playing around with my computer because I now cannot open any mht files that I save. This has been happening for the past week. When I click on the file to open it a dialog box pops up stating “This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Set Association control panel. I tried this but I guess I’m too slow in my thinking cause I still cant get it to work. I’ve read the help files to know avail. Does anyone know what program opens these .mht files? Please help if you can. Many Thanks. Norman |

Can't you right click the file and Open With, and then select IE? ss. |

| | Re: .mht file extention If you have MS office (MS Word), you also can install this handy MS program that lets you unpack MHTML (MHT) to HTML and graphics folder and pack an HTML file and graphics folder to single MHTML file. It's very handy. Actually adds "pack web archive' and "unpack web archive" options to the context menu when you right click on an MHT or HTML file. Very nice!!!!! Works on my Vista computer, by the way, with Office 2000. Find it http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=EN. I think you may have to restart your computer after to install this free app from MS I believe MHT actually is a function of Outlook Express (Windows Mail), used for sending single files by email with consolitdated text and graphics.strangley, I find that if you email an attached.mht file, it doesn't always arrive intact! But mht is a great way to save Web pages. | | Re: .mht file extention Actually, if you email a mht file, it will arrive with all the graphics intact, just because they are all encapsulated in one file. That's why when forwarding email messages, if you use Message | Forward as Attachment, you wil also get the complete message. steve "Anthony Giorgianni" <pleasepost@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:e%23R7ZPXpIHA.524@xxxxxx Quote: > If you have MS office (MS Word), you also can install this handy MS > program that lets you unpack MHTML (MHT) to HTML and graphics folder and > pack an HTML file and graphics folder to single MHTML file. > > It's very handy.
