| | USB Hotfix won't install. I have the issue where Vista Home Premium won't recognize USB devices. It finds the drivers but won't install them. Microsoft has a hotfix #940199 for this very problem. But when I try to use the hotfix, I get the message that "The update does not apply to your system." I even tried the SUR tool #KB947821 but I get the same message. I'm using Windows Vista Home Premium that came with the computer. Now I can't use my USB devices or apply KB updates. Please help. |

| | Re: USB Hotfix won't install. 1. Locate the file INFCACHE.1 in C:\Windows\inf 2. Right click on the INFCACHE.1 file, select Properties >Security > Edit, and give your account full control. 3. Delete INFCACHE.1 (Or rename it to INFCACHE.1.BAK ) 4. REBOOT -- Was this helpful? Then click the Ratings button. | | Re: USB Hotfix won't install. Thanks, but it's not there. The hotfix is supposed to help windows recreate/repair/replace it properly after it's been deleted/corrupted. I can't get the hotfix to load. I get the message "The update does not apply to your system" even though I'm using the right update. Like I had said, I tried the System Update Readiness Tool (KB947821) [April 2008] which is made for all Vista versions and I get the same message; "The update does not apply to your system." I can't seem to find a solution for that. "Mark L. Ferguson" <MarkLFerguson@xxxxxx> wrote in message news 8109697-C8DA-41CB-A250-5E864F761C1E@xxxxxxQuote: > 1.
