| | vista stuck at welcome page Can anyone help please? I'm using Vista Home premium on an HP laptop. Yesterday the screen became stuck and unresponsive, I switched the computer off then on and after the normal repair / assessment of disk errors etc tried to log-on, the screen got to welcome with active cursor but got no further. I entered safe start-up to try to restore system to a point in time, but the Help system instructions to manually set up the restore point didn't correlate to any of the available options on the system, I'm not sure if an Windows automatic update has caused this - does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions? -- smudge |

| | Re: vista stuck at welcome page Its welcoming you to a new world full of vista bugs and problems. Get used to it.. since you will be running in to them all the time while you will be using vista. That is of course if you can get beyond the welcome screen.. lol vista sucks big time! LOL whoever likes it, deserves it "smudge" <smudge@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:04FB51D7-A24B-4719-A02A-22D901E55063@xxxxxx Quote: > Can anyone help please? > > I'm using Vista Home premium on an HP laptop. | | RE: vista stuck at welcome page Tap F8 at startup to go into Safe Mode. Once you get back in there: Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore Just follow the prompts to select a date, next, next, etc. Also, turn off(disable) your Anti-Virus before doing a System Restore. -- Mick Murphy - Qld - Australia "smudge" wrote: Quote: > Can anyone help please? > > I'm using Vista Home premium on an HP laptop. | | Re: vista stuck at welcome page Hi smudge, You were able to enter safe mode, yes? This would show that the installation is not damaged. Do you have other user profiles you can try logging into? What steps were you trying to use to run system restore? If nothing else works, run rstrui.exe from the search line or a command prompt to start it. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org My thoughts http://rick-mvp.blogspot.com "smudge" <smudge@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:04FB51D7-A24B-4719-A02A-22D901E55063@xxxxxx Quote: > Can anyone help please? > > I'm using Vista Home premium on an HP laptop.
