Window Mobile Device Center does not open

I have Windows Vista and when I connect my Hp2795b PDA to the cradle Window
Mobile Device Center does not open. I installed the WMDC 6.1 and it still
does not open. When I go to the start menu it is not listed there. When I go
to the Add/remove programs in the control panel it is not listed there. If I
go to WindowsMobile folder in the Windows folder there is a wmdSync.exe that
when opened does not open an interface. It does show up in the task manager
but only when I manually execute it from the folder that it is in.
When I go to the Control Panel there is an Icon for WMDC that when opened
pops up a box that asks me to allow USB connections and even says "Device
Connected". When I click ok nothing further happens.
I can view the device and what is on it in Windows Explorer. But since the
WMDC will not open, I am unable to sync anything.

Please advise, Thank you!

Re: Window Mobile Device Center does not open

You have a problem with your USB ports - typical Vista problem. Do some more
googling.

You obviously did not read the post very thoroughly. WMDC does not even show
up in Add/remove programs as being installed. So I cannot uninstall it. Since
my PDA shows up on Windows Explorer I doubt that it has anything to do with
the USB.

Re: Window Mobile Device Center does not open

Ok, you say you have wmdc 6.1
I don't know if this is the one that came with your system OR
if you d/l it. So, guessing that you d/l it, I give the following
advice.

Don't know for sure if this will work for you but try this:

C:\windows\windowsmobile\setup.exe

This will install the wmdc that is original version with your system..
Now you are wondering why install wmdc again?
I have 3 HP's and installing the wmdc other than the one that came
with them or upgrading through the HP update renders everything
useless.
This may not work for you or you may have another problem, but if you
haven't tried it, give it a shot.

Re: Window Mobile Device Center does not open

There is no setup.exe in the C:\windows\windowsmobile\ folder. I have 2 new
hp computers with Vista and neither one has this setup.exe in this folder.

Re: Window Mobile Device Center does not open

Thank you for the advice. I have no way of installing the original version
since it is not in the WindowMobile Folder. When I have gone online to
microsoft an went to the 6.0 version download that came on my hp it actually
downloads the new 6.1 update. Where can I find the original 6.0 download?

Re: Window Mobile Device Center does not open

If you notice the link that you included for WMDC 6.0 actually downloads the
6.1 driver update. That is the problem I am having with Microsoft.
