Vista lockup

My Toshiba A135 laptop with Vista Home Premium just locked up solid while I
was surfing (nothing going on in the background). This is the 2nd or 3rd
time this has happened (don't remember if it was the same site before).
It's a site I visit almost daily on my XP desktop without a problem. I
don't remember that last time my XP box locked up it's been so long. I
could not bring up the task manager, both keyboard and mouse were frozen.
I'm current with updates. Is this common?

Re: Vista lockup

Does it lockup IE if you start it with add-ons disabled?

My system locks up all the time, but I am running an AMD Quadcore Phenom -Black edition with a MSI K9A2 Platinum MotherBoard. I have a daily freeze up with Vista in both x64 & x32 OS versions. I still have yet to figure out what is the deal with all that. My system has froze during shutdown, on the net, while gaming, running Excel, while nothing is running (just the desktop stuff), etc. However, when it isn't freezing, it runs great. Everything falls under normal parameters.

So does yours freeze only while surfing the internet?

Sounds like you lack the proper cooling.

I have a Thermatake water cooling system and the AMD monitoring program says I am well within my safe operating perameters. Runs at an average of 35° C, it has frozen during start up after being shut down all night, freezes after running idle on the desktop, etc.

Never OC'd it seeing how I am having all these issues. I thought it wiser to wait until it is more stable.
