| | Front speaker and mic jacks dont work - Windows Vista Basic The audio jacks on the front of my Compaq Presario SR5030NX computer don't work. They work o.k. on the back. I've went through all the settings I can find, but nothing changes. I see this subject came up a few months ago, with this suggestion: "Right click on the Speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Recording Devices. Right click in the Recording window and select both "Show Disconnected Devices" and "Show Disabled Devices". Does the rear microphone jack now show up? If it does, click on it as press the Set Default button and use the Properties and Configure buttons to set up the microphone. Have you looked in Control Panel or your All Programs list for an Audio Manager applet?" When I tried the suggestion the 2nd paragraph, under Jack Information it still doesn't cause information to display anything about the front jacks. I've tried to talk to Hewlett Packard about this, but it seems to have them baffled. |

It is possible that the front panel ports are not even connected to the headers on your motherboard/soundcard. Look inside the case. ss. |

| | Re: Front speaker and mic jacks dont work - Windows Vista Basic Synapse Syndrome - You may be on the right track. Last night I was playing around with it and got it to work fine, but this morning it was out of order again. I think maybe there is an intermittent connection someplace and I'm going to have to search for it. Thanks for your reply. = = = = = = On Apr 28, 1:48*am, "Synapse Syndrome" <syna...@xxxxxx> wrote: Quote: > "n9ejs" <n9...@xxxxxx> wrote in message > > news:6c37314b-d6ab-4916-a353-8e2c2a41913e@xxxxxx > > > > > Quote: > > The audio jacks on the front of my Compaq Presario SR5030NX computer > > don't work. *They work o.k. on the back. *I've went through all the > > settings I can find, but nothing changes. *I see this subject came up > > a few months ago, with this suggestion: Quote: > > "Right click on the Speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Recording > > Devices. > > Right click in the Recording window and select both "Show Disconnected > > Devices" > > and "Show Disabled Devices".
