| | Fed up with Vista? Here are step-by-step instructions for downgrading back to the warm familiarity of Windows XP Fed up with Vista? Here are step-by-step instructions for downgrading back to the warm familiarity of Windows XP http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2287685,00.asp My comment: UPGRADE to XP, and get several IQ points back. XP= The last best OS made by Microsoft. article (multipage) If "buyer's remorse" describes regret and self-doubt after a costly purchase, then "upgrader's remorse" seems to sum up the feelings some people have after switching to Windows Vista. And why shouldn't they feel that way? Windows XP is noticeably faster than Vista on the same hardware, and it gets by with much less RAM and hard drive space. Microsoft's Service Pack 3 makes XP even faster, but the same cannot be said of Vista's Service Pack 1. And Windows Explorer crashes far more often in Vista (preceded, of course, by the notorious Green Ribbon of Death). Why, XP's staggeringly superior hardware support alone makes a convincing case for dumping Vista in favor of its predecessor. Problem is, downgrading a Vista PC to Windows XP can be a chore, and doubly so if you want to do it without reformatting your hard disk. The main roadblock is Windows Setup, which won't let you install an older version on top of a newer one; you are left with the tedious task of fooling Setup into thinking that there's no Windows at all on your PC.-Next: Regress Without Reformatting > |

However, folks who frequent this newsgroup are fed up with your off-topic postings that have nothing to do within the scope of this newsgroup. So, you might as well find a different forum for your unsolicited suggestions. -- Carey Frisch Microsoft MVP Windows Desktop Experience - Windows Vista Enthusiast |

Here are step-by-step instructions for downgrading back to the warm familiarity of Windows XP No, the most common question in this newsgroup is not how to return to Windows XP. The most common question is related to asking a question about a Windows Vista issue and seeking advice as to how to solve it. -- Carey Frisch Microsoft MVP Windows Desktop Experience - Windows Vista Enthusiast |

What you state is not a single question though. Lets not play counting games here. It has been asked several times and a site explaining how this can be done is useful for the people that want to know how to do it. It is 100% relative to vista.general, since it involves the removal of vista too. Microsoft lost me with all the gratuitous user interface changes in Vista. The first week I couldn't even find commonly used functions. I used to work in Microsoft systems development, and I understand why they do this, but it doesn't change the fact that they are ***holes. His rants are an indication that he either lacks the necessary hardware and/or is incapable of understanding Vista. XP is an excellent OS. Vista is an excellent OS. To criticize those who have chosen to use Vista is childish behavior. C.B. -- It is the responsibility and duty of everyone to help the underprivileged and unfortunate among us. |

If XP is so good does it mean we should stick with it for ever and Microsoft should stop wasting their time developing another OS as XP is soooo good no one would need anything else now but XP???
