Brand New Computer, Unidentified Network/Vista

I purchased a brand new Dell computer with Windows Vista. I setup the
computer and connected the cable modem and am unable to connect to the
internet. I am receiving the "Limited or No connectivity"message and the LAN
says unidentified network. I have not been able to connect to the internet
at all.

Some more description would help. Is this a new computer plus modem plus
Internet subscription? Or are you replacing a previous computer on an
already working setup? Is there a router involved? Are you using wireless
or wired ethernet? Is everything wired properly? If this is a new modem
plus Internet subscription, is there software that came with the modem that
you are supposed to run first? If you are using wireless, is there a
wireless router or wireless cable modem? If there is wireless, did you
remember to configure the wireless parameters on the Dell correctly?

Cheers,

Earle
