ATI1650 Pro problems

Whether it's a coincidence or not (?) but since around the time I
installed SP1 Home Premium I am getting this message at random times
--

Display driver atikmdag stopped responding and has successfully
recovered.

The screen goes blank for a second or 2 and then comes back again.

Is this a driver issue or is there some other underlying problem? When
it's running, I get no problems at all.

First time I noticed it was using Easy Media Creator to convert an avi
to a dvd and evrytime it happens, it goes back to the start and just
keeps doing it. Just had it happen during a game but once it had
recovered, the game just carried on playing!!

Any thughts or suggestions for a different forum for help?

TIA

cheers,
Len
