| | Documents and Settings I'm trying to look into my "Documents and Settings" subdirectory to find some configurtion files that Adobe apparently insists on storing there. Then I try to look there with the normal file Explorer I get an error message: "C:\Documents and Settings is not accessible. Accessis denied" Now, I'm doing this from the main Admin control account. If the sys admin can't access the directory, who can? How do I get Vista to play nice? Bill |

| | RE: Documents and Settings The documetns and settings directory is really a junction that points to c:/user. To find the files that you are looking for go to c:/user/<user name>/<name> "Bill Martin" wrote: Quote: > I'm trying to look into my "Documents and Settings" subdirectory to > find some configurtion files that Adobe apparently insists on storing > there. | | Re: Documents and Settings Right-click the folder in question and select "Take Ownership". After a streaming DOS screen, you should be able to acces the folder normally. | | Re: Documents and Settings I'd be a liar if I claimed to understand that article. All I know is that after "Taking Ownership", I am able to look into the folders, which I couldn't do before. | | Re: Documents and Settings If you want to get a better idea what a junction is do this. go to c:\users\<some directory> and create a file. Now go to documents and settings\<some directory> you will see the file that you just created. Typing the following in a cmd window cd c:\documents and settings\<user> would take you to the same place that cd c:\user\<user> would take you. This is what a junction is used for.
