Vista SP1 availability

I heard it has been out a few weeks however it didn't show as available on
my 32bit laptop untill last week and it still isn't showing as available on
my 64bit machine. I want to install 3D Mark Vantage and that requires
Service Pack 1. When can I expect service pack 1 to show as available and
can I download it seperately and install?

Re: Vista SP1 availability

Make sure that all your drivers are updated; sp1 doesn't appear when some old drivers are installed: Windows Vista Service Pack 1 is not available for installation from Windows Update and is not offered by Automatic Updates

RE: Vista SP1 availability

You could try typing "SP1" in the "Search For" box at the top of this page.
You will find many threads already covering this issue.

You can download the full standalone version (see his link from my website:
http://vistasupport.mvps.org/downloa...opy_of_SP1.htm )

Make sure you also visit the two links on that webpage prior to installing
SP1

John,

Do you know the MD5 checksum for the standalone file for the Windows
Vista Service Pack 1 [Five Language Standalone (KB936330)] file?

I'll be burning this file on a CD to provide to a beginner using Vista
32 Home Basic, and want to make sure they have the best possible chance
at success the first time around when installing SP1. I don't want a bad
download to add on any complications, so I'd like to verify the file is
free from errors.

Also, will their Vista have to take possession of the file before it can
be used? If so, I'll have to write out some quick instructions for them
on how to do that as well.

Well, no. If you downloaded the standalone package, then just write it to DVD and then anybody can use it. Or better yet, go to the Microsoft Download Center, and then download the Vista SP1 ISO, and use Nero (or some other DVD burning software) to burn that image to disk. From ther, all your friend has to do is insert the DVD into his computer, and autoplay will take it from there.

Above is the MS link for SP1, including the 64bit version.
Hope that helps!

Re: Vista SP1 availability

I'm afraid I don't know the MD5 checksum, I certainly haven't come across
it.
