Yes, it works under Vista, and if it meets your needs, go for it. -- Ken Blake, Microsoft MVP - Windows Desktop Experience Please Reply to the Newsgroup |

| | Re: Open Office Hi Bub, I recently built a new machine running 64-bit Vista Home Prem. I download and installed OpenOffice 2.4 and LOVE IT! If you are proficient with Word and Excel you will have to search for some options like Envelopes and Labels, but you will find that it works great and is free! Good luck! How do features of > that product compare to Open Office? Can't answer that well but Open Office is getting much closer to the Microsoft Office suite all the time. To be honest I think it is more "What you are used to" and less about bells and whistles these days, I don't know anybody who uses any of these products as fully as they could ![]() |

Most of us probably don't use more than 20% or so of the features in most products. And most important, what constitutes that 20% is different for each of us. So when evaluating one product against another, the question is not whether product B has 99% of the features of product A or only 90%. The question is whether it has all 20% of the features *you* use and are important to you. Regarding the Star Office vs. Open Office question, I don't know much about either, but my understanding is that they are similar. But since OpenOffice is free, my suggestion to Iain is that he try it and compare the two for himself. -- Ken Blake, Microsoft MVP - Windows Desktop Experience Please Reply to the Newsgroup |
