| | Vista - 'copy to buffer' keys ? |
| |
| 05-26-2006 | #1 |
| | 'copy to buffer' keys ? I tried using my 'printkey' utility in Vista to capture screenshots and it doesn't work ( all distorted). Also tried ALT+PRTScreen CTRL+Prtscn etc. Anyway at this point to copy into a buffer, so when I have problem, I can capture the screen and paste into a word doc etc ? Bobb |

| | Re: 'copy to buffer' keys ? Actually, there's no reason to do this anymore. Now in Vista, they have what is called a Snipping Tool. If you go under All Programs -> Accessories -> Snipping Tool, it will highlight you screen and ask you to select the area that you want to capture. Select the area by dragging your mouse from the bottom corner to the opposite top corner and then just let go and it will capture it and then display the final results. Hope this helps! | | Re: 'copy to buffer' keys ? Works for me. When you say, its all distorted, what do you mean by this? does it capture the image but its kinda screwed. Maybe this is a video driver issue? does it work with Glass off? | | Re: 'copy to buffer' keys ? printkey You were right ! I turned off glass ( which I didn't like anyway) and it now works fine. I'm thinking.... maybe it didn't look right 'cuz image viewer resized it to fit screen when I displayed it ??? I'll have to play with that a bit - maybe try paint etc. Or save it and then open in XP. But anyhow ..... I'm very happy that it's working as that is one of THE most useful utilities I've ever installed Alfred Bolliger was the writer - got it at cnet or some such place in ~1998 or so for Win95. So I can go back to using my printkey to capture screen shots like this one (I know I shouldn't ' attach it cuz some can't see it, but I'm guessing anyone in here knows that): ( the distortion was that the images were "pixelated" so instead of an icon I got strange deformed colors - like the image / text had been stretched out until the image broke down into colors. ) "Steve Drake" <Steve@NOSPAM.Drakey.co.uk> wrote in message news:e%23NXtXMgGHA.2032@TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... > Works for me. > > When you say, its all distorted, what do you mean by this? does it capture > the image but its kinda screwed. > > Maybe this is a video driver issue? does it work with Glass off? > > Steve > > > "- Bobb -" <bobb@netscape.net> wrote in message > news:u3JcAHMgGHA.5092@TK2MSFTNGP04.phx.gbl... >>I tried using my 'printkey' utility in Vista to capture screenshots and it >>doesn't work ( all distorted). >> Also tried ALT+PRTScreen CTRL+Prtscn etc. >> Anyway at this point to copy into a buffer, so when I have problem, I can >> capture the screen and paste into a word doc etc ? >> >> Bobb >> > |

| | Re: 'copy to buffer' keys ? Not in my build ... I checked Control Panel - Programs - add/remove etc for 'snipping" - nope. All Programs -> Accessories Lists "Sidebar" then "Sound Recorder" so printkey it is. | | Re: 'copy to buffer' keys ? printkey I have the same issue. I have a new system, a brand new Nvidia card with the Nvidia beta drivers for beta 2. It doesn't really matter, because the same thing happened when I had the MS drivers installed. It also happened with an older Nvidia card too. This sucks, as I want to get some screenshots with Glass turned on. If this is the case though, how can people get screenshots? I have seen them everywhere. What's so different? Is this just with Nvidia? "Zack Whittaker" wrote: > Ahh I know what you mean - when I screenshot with Glass, it goes black and white and all squished up horizontally. | | Re: 'copy to buffer' keys ? printkey I couldn't find this thread earlier: for an update see my new message: " Screen colors on "snapshot" - Vista x86 and x64" I had glass off - same problem but I installed DOS Printkey app and defined a hotkey for it - not the "printscrn" Key - and it worked fine. See my new note for screenshots. Bobb "The Dude" <TheDude@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:88A8DD8D-ADA7-4B12-AACD-468C202027AC@microsoft.com... >I have the same issue.
