| | Messages missing in MS-DOS Hi, when using MS-DOS, I keep getting messages like: "The system cannot find message text for message number ####### in the message file for Application." It seems to be all the messages, for example: using the 'dir' command, it comes up with loads of the messages above, and then lists the files :s Is there any way to restore the missing message thingies??? |

If you did, then that is very strange, and I have never seen anything like that. But if you are actually booing into MS-DOS, it will not be able to read the NTFS file system, which may cause something like that, although I have not tried it for years, other than for flashing firmware. ss. |

| | RE: Messages missing in MS-DOS Hi Michael: I get that message also when I use "cmd.exe" supplied from HP (my machine is HP). If I use the "cmd.exe" command supplied with Windows, I don't get the message. So I use the one with Windows. In my machine: The "cmd.exe" file supplied with Windows is in "C:\Windows\System32" The "cmd.exe" file supplied by HP is in "C:\HP\Bin" I can't be sure where yours is. Right click on your MS-DOS icon and select Properties. The Location will tell you if you are using the one from Windows (The target might be something like "%SystemRoot%system32\cmd.exe" HTH Dellco "michaelmorris" wrote: Quote: > Hi, when using MS-DOS, I keep getting messages like: > "The system cannot find message text for message number ####### in the > message file for Application." > > It seems to be all the messages, for example: > using the 'dir' command, it comes up with loads of the messages above, and > then lists the files :s > > Is there any way to restore the missing message thingies??? |
