| | Dual monitor display settings revert on startup I run Vista on a laptop and have a 2nd monitor hooked up via a docking station. I set my 2nd monitor (i.e. not the laptop screen) as my main monitor, however, after every restart Vista always reverts back to the Laptop as the main monitor. How can I stop Vista reverting backto the Laptop as the main monitor? (This happens aven though at no stage have I un-docked the laptop!) |

This happens with my twin monitors, and somebody else here mentioned the same thing when using a laptop just a couple of days ago. It seems to be a common problem with Vista, but I have never seen it happen in XP. If you had twin monitors you could swap the cables around every time it happens, but as you are using a laptop, using UltraMon will be the only solution that I can think of. It allows you to change the primary monitor very easily. www.ultramon.com ss. |

| | Re: Dual monitor display settings revert on startup We've had this problem quite a lot on XP and it was todo with a graphics chipset control panel option which overwrites the windows settings after a reboot. If you want the change to be permanent you need to setup the dual monitor in the chipset control panel. Not sure if its the same as this was XP but sounds a lot like it. I have seen it happen on the only two Vista dual-head systems that I have used, including my own. It does not happen on that same computer when booted into XP. I also cannot remember there ever being a way to choose which monitor is primary either (ATi FireGL and nVidia QuadroFX) on the Vista drivers. ss. |

Now this is on a desktop computer but on the off chance that your video card has the same choice it might be worth taking a look for. -- Ron P If we are what we eat then: I'm fast, cheap and easy and past my best before date |

| | Re: Dual monitor display settings revert on startup Hello, Also experienced loosing the dual display monitor settings after reboot/sleep/hybernate/Lock using Vista an a Dell Inspiron 6000 note book. Finally fixed this issue installing the latest ATI drivers after using a special tool: Mobility Modder. Please have a look at: http://www.driverheaven.net/modtool.php Peter. -- peter22 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ peter22's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/member.php?u=52030 View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/showthread.php?t=963300 http://forums.techarena.in |
