| Guest | AVG is not compatible with RC1: AVG uninstallation is also bugged! After the first time you install AVG on RC1, it will work fine, but as you reboot, antivirus driver or similar fails to start. So I uninstalled AVG but it's remained on the security center. Why is it remained in the security center???? How remove it???? Now I've 2 antivirus active in security center but AVG is not really |

Now I've 2 antivirus > active in security center but AVG is not really It would load fine here a couple of times, but stopping doing so eventrually. I un- then reinstalled and it worked again. For some other eason I had to reinstall pre-RC1 and AVG wouldn't load after some reboots. When started manually from the Start Menu it fired up fine and reportet to be active, also the tray-icon then appeared again. Since the icon is there, AVG says it's active and the update of the program then works flawlessly, I assume that manually star- ting the program may be a workaround. I don't know of any other AV-software that works with 5536 so I stick with it. Kai-Uwe |

| Guest | Re: AVG is not compatible with RC1: AVG uninstallation is also bugged! I am running build 5536 - have the latest AVG Free edition (avg71free_405a791) upon booting I get the following message: "Could not initialize AVG Anti-Virus Kernal interface. Application cannot run" an "OK" buttons appears in the message box. I manually start the program and all seems well. I did a clean install of 5536 http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/...pl/v5#avg-free "Jupiter Jones [MVP]" <jones_jupiter@hotnomail.com> wrote in message news:e7GRDBF0GHA.3656@TK2MSFTNGP04.phx.gbl... | Guest | Re: AVG is not compatible with RC1: AVG uninstallation is also bug I had the same problem as BillD, including being left with 2 antivirus apps listed, even after I had uninstalled AVG. Starting the program manually each time didn't seem like a good work around and I now have Trend Micro PCillian installed. However, it expires in Oct and has no free version. I'm hoping they will get AVG working again by then. It worked fine for me in the Beta 2 version of Vista. All you have to do is control panel Windows Firewal ad program and just check that AVG has access "BillD" wrote: > After the first time you install AVG on RC1, it will work fine, but as you > reboot, antivirus driver or similar fails to start. > So I uninstalled AVG but it's remained on the security center.
