Task Manager

For some reason the Task Manager has been disabled. How do I turn it back on
in Vista?

Re: Task Manager

go to start - run, regedit and open HKEY_CURRENT_USER/... and
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\system
Is there a DisableTaskMan entry there?, and if yes, set it to zero

That's usually a sign that malware has compromised the machine and has
disabled Task Manager so that you can't see what is running. You can
download the free Process Explorer which is like TM and see what is
running, until you get things sorted out.

Hi Croxdale,

In addition to the other posts, this tutorial can show you how to get Task Manager enabled again. Be sure to run a very thorough antivirus, spyware, and othe malware scan to be safe.

Task Manager - Enable or Disable

Hope this helps,
