| | SP1 - Preventing automatic installation Hi Before installing SP1 I want to do some preparation (e.g. arrange back up of my data files, etc). Currently, I have my Windows auto-update system set to advise me when updates are available and I have been notified that some are waiting. How can I prevent the auto update system from downloading SP1? I seem to recall that you are not given the opportunity to choose whether or not you want to download a particular update. Any advice would be appreciated John (IDontBelieveIt) (To reply to me only, omit the "z") |

| | Re: SP1 - Preventing automatic installation Hi, Open Automaitc Updates from the programs menu, under the "install" button click on the line to "view available updates". Here you can select/deselect the updates you want installed. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org My thoughts http://rick-mvp.blogspot.com "IDontBelieveIt" <johnscorpio28z@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:uLbxNPMtIHA.2068@xxxxxx Quote: > Hi > > Before installing SP1 I want to do some preparation (e.g. arrange back up > of my data files, etc). | | Re: SP1 - Preventing automatic installation Right click on the update (SP1) and hide it. You can unhide it when you want to install. -- Paul "Rick Rogers" wrote: Quote: > Hi, > > Open Automaitc Updates from the programs menu, under the "install" button > click on the line to "view available updates".
