Where to add a shortcut to start menu?

I would like to allow NewsProxy to automatically load on startup by
inserting a shortcut for it into my startup folder. Where do I find the
appropriate folder in Vista (Ultimate) and are there any particulars I
should know about (for instance the possibility that UAC or Windows
Defender will not allow this).
