Undo restore point failed

When I try to undo a restore point, a get an error message that the operation
has failed because of an unknown error. Then none of my other restore points
will work, either. Anybody know what goes on?

Hello Chester,
Can you undo a system restore in SAFE mode ? Or, choose a more later date and do a system restore, in safe mode ?

Re: Undo restore point failed

When doing a System Restore in Safe Mode it's probably best to create a
Restore Point just prior to performing the restore operation due to not
being able to "undo" the restore when performed in Safe Mode.

Re: Undo restore point failed

Hello t-4-2 an d Ramone,

Thank you, it worked in safe mode. I don't have any of the software listed
on the page that Ramone linked me to. Must be some other software conflict?
Am I right in thinking that it doesn't matter as long as I'm able to do a
restore in safe mode?

thanx again,
Chet

Hello Chester,
The link given to you is basically for XP, although some in the context is "generic".
You are not out of the wood yet. Yes it does matter. You shouldn't have to do restore in safe mode, unless there is something wrong.
I'm assuming that you are now back in normal mode. Please go back to system restore window, create a restore point. Then use that point you created and do a system restore again. If all goes well, maybe you are out of the wood.

Out of curiosity, what prompted you to undo a restore point ??

Re: Undo restore point failed

Tried to do restore in normal mode. No dice. Tried turning off virus scanner.
Still no dice. Can do restore only in safe mode. Have no idea what's wrong.

Hello Chester,
Did you create a restore point as I asked you ? If yes, were you successful in doing so ? You don't have SP1, do you ?

Re: Undo restore point failed

Right, I created a restore point and then tried to use that one to do the
system restore, which failed. Do not have sp1. Should I?
