| | Is App Data folder important to back up? I recently signed up for one of the on line data backup services for the purposes of backing up my documents. The service charges me on a "per GB" basis. I have backed up my documents and music. I observe that there is also a folder within Vista for my Application Data (file called "App Data"). Within the App Data folder, there are 3 sub-folders entitled Local, Local Low, and Roaming. Is it desirable (or necessary) to back up any or all of the folders within the App Data folder? If so, which one(s)? Thanks |

If you use POP3 email with Windows Mail or Outlook or similar, they will be kept in there too, but other than that, there is nothing that you will miss if it was lost. ss. |

| | Re: Is App Data folder important to back up? Thanks SS. I should have mentioned that in addition to my documents and music, I also back-up my Outlook.pst file. When you mentioned that it might be useful to back up some items for convenience, what types of things were you thinking about (besides the .pst file)? Thanks for your help!! chief jay "Synapse Syndrome" wrote: Quote: > "chiefjay" <chiefjay@xxxxxx> wrote in message > news:F93F2E7B-F402-401C-AF76-CA0B2C56803D@xxxxxx Quote: > >I recently signed up for one of the on line data backup services for the > > purposes of backing up my documents. For example, I use 3D, CAD and graphics programs that have loads of settings, so I do not like to lose their folders in %appdata%. I don't actually back them up individually, but I copy them over to other computers, just to save me the hassle of setting the programs up with my preferred settings. ss. |
