| | Where Did it Go? I downloaded both the X86 and the X64 versions of RC-1 and it was saved to: Gary\Documents but I am unable to find the files now. Its like they just disappeared, cant find them but the Download manager says that it already exists. Any ideas what is happening with this? Gary MCSE |

| | Re: Where Did it Go? The dreaded 'sandboxing' strikes again. The downloads are there, but you can't see them. Protected Mode in IE7 I believe is the culprit. The files have been sideshifted into a sandbox, for your protection of course ![]() Actually getting them back to where you downloaded them to is another thing. Internet Options > Advanced > uncheck "Check for signatures on downloaded programs". If the downloads don't appear in your folder, then try turning off Protected Mode. This disappearing of downloads is going to cause severe problems when Vista goes retail. -- Jane, not plain 64 bit enabled ![]() Batteries not included. | | Re: Where Did it Go? This happened to me too. I was using the Vista Beta machine and the Akimai downloader did not produce the file after the file was downloaded. But this was not a problem with the download repeated on XP. I wonder if there is an inherit problem with Vista "Gary MCSE" <kc5md@aol.com> wrote in message news:5F3C796C-F9AD-421B-B1F5-EDB27012D7C8@microsoft.com... >I downloaded both the X86 and the X64 versions of RC-1 and it was saved to: > > Gary\Documents but I am unable to find the files now. > Its like they just disappeared, cant find them but the Download manager > says that it already exists. > > Any ideas what is happening with this? > > Gary MCSE |

| | Re: Where Did it Go? I think it has something to do with IE's Protected Mode and and "virtual" folders that's messing some people up. Maybe the use of "virtual" is wrong, but I'm sure IE treats downloads differently, now. Maybe, someone else can explain it better. http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2006/02/09/528963.aspx http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/de...tectedMode.asp -Michael "Mario Rosario" <mario@webacre.com> wrote in message news:%231vNsyo0GHA.1300@TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl... > This happened to me too. | | Re: Where Did it Go? This is all very lovely when downloaded from IE7... but what if the same type of problem also exists when downloading with a 3rd party app... such as mIRC, Limewire and so forth...eh? I have this "na na na na na na...I'm hiding yer files!" thing happing within these apps as well. |
