That may be a symptom of a "ClearType" setting problem. It is a new default for IE7 but it may not be appropriate for all monitors. You can change it for IE7-only in Options, Advanced, Browsing section In XPsp2 you can change it using Display Properties, Appearance tab, Effects dialog: Use the following method to smooth the edges of screen fonts: Yikes. I just got a reminder of why I turned it off. YMMV. Apparently there is a ClearType tuning tool you can download if you do decide to leave it enabled but still aren't satisfied with the appearance of some text. (Perhaps I should try it? <w>) http://www.microsoft.com/typography/...ePowerToy.mspx (MSN search for cleartype tuning download site:microsoft.com ) BTW I'm cross-posting this information to Vista General because I don't know how applicable it is to your OS. Good luck Robert Aldwinckle --- Note: remainder of thread left for convenience of new readers. > chrisvan50 > > "FrankV" wrote: > >> I would never try to update a video driver unless I was currently having >> video problems.
