Vista - Poor Program performance

Since installing Pre-RC1, more programs/drivers seem to be compatible, but
program operation is abysmal. Almost every program I open gets the "(not
responding) message in the title bar. Sometimes the program will
minimize/maximize multiple times before it begins operating. This will also
occur when performing operations within the program. This never occurred
when I had Vista Beta 2 installed, so I'm not sure why this happens. Anyone
else having this problem? I am running an AMD 64 2800+ w/1.5 GB RAM.

Just to be certain, the indexing-service is not running around and
looking at all your files is it? High disk IO load has always been able
to bring Windows to it's knees.

Thanks for the reply. I don't think it is the indexing service (I might be
wrong here) because this occurred after I installed the Pre-RC1. I never had
this problem with the Beta 2 release. This will also happen with control
panel, my computer, etc...
