| | Backup - differential or incremental - always backs up all music Every time I use the Windows backup utility, it backs up every music file on my system, even though that file has already been backed up in the set. This causes my backup to quickly mushroom into gargantuan proportions, as I perform a backup every day. The documentation on Windows backup is sketchy, and it doesn't say whether subsequent backups are differential or incremental. I have a feeling that every time I play a music file, Windows scans every file, and tries to update it with tags, thereby causing Windows backup to think it's new or changed. In other words, it seems to be pretty dumb about knowing what files have been changed, and errs on the side of caution. Is there a way to make sure Windows doesn't perform such redundant backups? -- Michael |
