| | Vaio TZ, Vista SP1 and Intel video issue Yep, it's another "I hate Vista and I can't get it to work properly" thread. Sorry. I am running Windows Vista Business on a Vaio VGN-TZ21WN and I loathe the entire experience. The notable changes in SP1 list gives me some hope, however SP2 won't come up in Windows Update. Before I use the standalone install, I have read all the possible reasons why this might happen and it appears the only driver issue left is the Intel video chip: I am stuck with 7.14.10.1387 The update from Intel won't install - asking me to get an update from Vaio. Vaio are not offering anything new yet ... Longshot time: Has anyone else here forced an install SP1 in a similar situation? I am keen to at least try and fix this nasty, nasty OS before I am just forced into buying a Macbook instead. |

| | Re: Vaio TZ, Vista SP1 and Intel video issue Well, between the rubbish performance of the software, and the helpful responses from people like Dave with his anonymous email address, I just might. It's awe inspiring to see that people who take the time to come and find a solution to their problem on the Microsoft forum are told the solution is to buy a mac. To be honest, if Steve Jobs and every single Linux reseller had got together to write a new Microsoft OS that would drive the whole world to their products instead then they probably wouldn't have done much worse than Vista. And when retards like you actually hang around on technical support forums to not actually offer any support at all, that kind of sums up the whole situation rather nicely doesn't it? Unfortunately, I have already bought a Vaio (which is great) and got lumped with Vista (which isn't). So maybe I'll wait for someone who isn't a tool to be helpful instead. | | Re: Vaio TZ, Vista SP1 and Intel video issue It's a typo - sorry. I meant SP1 "Tim Slattery" wrote: Quote: > thamuhacha <thamuhacha@xxxxxx> wrote: > Quote: > >Yep, it's another "I hate Vista and I can't get it to work properly" thread. > >Sorry. > > > >I am running Windows Vista Business on a Vaio VGN-TZ21WN and I loathe the > >entire experience. > > > >The notable changes in SP1 list gives me some hope, however SP2 won't come > >up in Windows Update. > ???? There is no SP2 for Vista. SP1 was released just a few weeks ago. > > -- > Tim Slattery > MS MVP(Shell/User) > Slattery_T@xxxxxx > http://members.cox.net/slatteryt > |

So, why is it Vista's fault? You have an Intel chipset that has a problem, and the fix for it has to come from Vaio via Intel for your computer. Please explain how this problem results in Vista being a "nast, nasty OS". As far as trying the SP1 install, why don't you back up your drive and have a go at the install? You might be pleasantly surprised. On the other hand, you might not! Hobo |

Seeing letters appear in word a significant time after I press the key is just the start. And I have turned off all of the features that make Vista look nice and modern just to get that far! Anyway, I know I can give the SP1 a try, I just wondered if anyone here had given this situation a go before ... but it seems not. |
