How can I get rid of the windows password log on when I start my computer.
I would rather not have to log in to the computer with a password.
Thanks

Re: password

Start, type:
control userpasswords2
hit enter
Put a check in 'require users to use a password ...' and follow the wizard
to enter your name and password.
You can use a blank for password, but it's better to use one. Scheduled
tasks you set don't run without a user password.

Hello Karen,
Before I show you how-to, I just want to caustion you of your decision. One person who has no password to log on option, and now all of a sudden he is prompted to enter the password and he hasn't one. So, now he is locked out of the machine. There is , of course, a way to fix that. But it's going to be a pain in the butt.
OK. Now here is how-to :-
Control Panel, classic view > user accounts > click Remove your password > follow the instructions, then click Remove password. That's it. Reboot and see what happens.
I would, if I may suggest, open an admin account with password, and put it aside. You don't have to use it at all. Just have it in the system----- just in case.
