can Vista Windows Eplorer be reverted to XP version?

I'd like to get rid of the Windows Explorer version running on Vista -- I
don't care that much for the ability to see the contents of each folder, but
I really miss the effective search capability of the older version of
Explorer. Are there options I can select, or can I install the older version?

This isn't a direct answer to your question, but I find Agent Ransack to do
a much better job of searching than Explorer. It's fast and free and
small. I use it on both XP and Vista.

Hi,

Sorry, but no you can't go backwards like that. There are, however, other
file managers available for free:

One of them may be to your liking.

Thanks a lot to both of you for the quick response... I'll give these other
programs a try.
