Vista Tutorial - Copy Local Profile to new Domain Profile

Hello all.

Here is my situation.

I had been on a domain "Test.com" on a workstation. The user name that I
used to log in was "Thomas.Nguyen". However, after having to rebuild the
domain and rejoining the workstation, the new user account, also
"Thomas.Nguyen," does not have the settings of the old. I know this would
happen.

Is there a way for me to copy the user settings (such as desktop, program
preferences) from the old user profile to the new. I have tried the SID
mapping using regedit but that did not get me anywhere (or I didn't do it
correctly).

This is the file structure that I have:

C:\Users\Thomas.Nguyen (old profile)
C:\Users\Thomas.Nguyen.Test (new profile)

I wanted to just copy and paste the contents from the old to the new but
have read about reprecussions.

Is there any easier way to do this or at least a more effective way that
won't make me lose all my settings from the old profile?

Log on as a 'third party' admin user ID. Click start, and type: sysdm.cpl
Hit enter. Advanced tab, "User profiles" area, "Settings" button.
This will allow a "Copy to" from one profile to another.

Login in to the Machine as local Admin rename the old profile .old and move
it to the root directory then go into User Accounts remove user name
Thomas.Nguyen under the Test.com and add User Thomas.Nguyen to the
NEWDOMAIN.com then login into the new domain and you should be set. When you
log into the new domain they lig in as the local adminstrator to the machine
and then move all the files from the old profile. Let me know how it goes

and try to log into the new domain thats how I've done it and it works for
me. Then you would go into the old profile and move everything over
