Stored User Names and Password

I'm trying to use the Stored User Name and Passwords functionality so that I
get automatically logged into sites.

I've added details for my hotmail account, i.e.

Log on to = www.hotmail.com
User name = my hotmail email account
Password = my hotmail password

When I start IE and go to Hotmail I do not get logged on automatically.

Am I missing something or have I misunderstood what the stored user names
and password functionality should do?

Thanks
Nick

Have you allowed cookies for www.hotmail.com, if you have set IE to block
cookies by default.

Re: Stored User Names and Password

Hi,

Yes, I've got www.hotmail.com added so that cookies are always allowed.

Are my expectations of how 'Stored Names and Passwords' work correct?

I'm not sure that you are referring to a standard part of Windows. ThinkPad
laptops come with something like that.

However, you should be able to log straight into Hotmail accounts using
nothing other than the tick boxes on the login screen to save account name
and password.

I don't think that it does this on my machines because I use Windows Live
Messenger, but it's possible. I used to use the Live Sign-In Assistant, as
I have two Hotmail accounts, but now you can actually link Hotmail accounts
together, and switch between them using the address link just above the
Sign-Out button.

Re: Stored User Names and Password

No probs and thanks for the tips on the Live account.

I was hoping that the Stored Names functionality would enable me to be
automatically signed in to all the sites which require login details, e.g.
online banking ,etc.

Cheers
Nick
