| | Windows Vista Home Premium desktop shortcuts Hi, I have a new laptop with Vista Home Premium and MS Office Pro 2007. I used to have XP. I usually put my frequently used sites as shortcuts on my desktop and normally they appear with the logo icon, eg my bank's logo, or the Telstra logo, or indeed the Microsoft logo. Now, with this new laptop, everything I put on the desktop just has the Explorer e icon, regardless of whether I right click on the site and select 'create shortcut' or whether I use file > send to desktop. Has something changed in Vista that prevents this? It would be great to have my logos back - I didn't create them when I created the shortcuts on XP - they just happened! Thanks in advance for any assistance. -- Trish |

| | Re: Windows Vista Home Premium desktop shortcuts Hi, Trish -- My icons do exactly the same thing on the desktop, and I've not yet figured out why, or how to change it. However, I've always used the QuickLaunch bar (at the bottom), even in XP, and I find that they do show up properly there in Vista. Besides, if you put them there, it leaves you lots of nice clean desktop space. Give it a try. | | Re: Windows Vista Home Premium desktop shortcuts Hi Lesley, I was just about to post another note when yours came in. I was speaking to Microsoft Australia this morning on an unrelated matter, and happened to mention this icon problem - it is easily fixed (at least it was on mine, which is a 15.4" laptop screen). My desktop icons were the default size of medium. Right click in a blank area of the desktop > View > Classic Icons and all the icons suddenly correct themselves (permanently). Thanks also for your feedback and suggestion - it is always helpful to know other ways! Thanks again, Lesley. t-- Trish "LesleyO" wrote: Quote: > Hi, Trish -- > > My icons do exactly the same thing on the desktop, and I've not yet figured > out why, or how to change it.
