Anybody tried another Media Player on RC1 yet?

I cannot stand WMP 11 its horrible, Ideally WMP10 but I suppose thats
not possible. I will not going into the reasons I hate WMP11 I will be
here all week. Any good alternatives out there that will run?

RE: Media Players

Hi Jonah,

I installed RC1 on my Media Center on Wednesday... when it is working it
rocks, but I have been having some really weird problems with it that have
prevented me from enjoying it to its fullest. Most of the problems I had
with 5472 were fixed, but a few weird ones, including what looks like a
driver problem with my remote control. WEIRD.

Re: Media Players

Winamp and VLC both work in RC1.

And hundreds other too I would bet, just try them out.

Nearly 95 % of all "designed for Windows XP"-Software runs on Vista RC1 with
no Problems.
If one is not running the way it should try right-clicking the Icon and
choose the compatibility options and also experiment with the option "run as
Administrator".

But I love the new WMP11, not so much for playing but the organizing is
better - I have tons of mp3s

For music, Musicmatch Juke Box Plus 10 works.

Re: Media Players

I am running J River Media Center 11

Has a couple of glitches with browsing for directory setup in the tools menu
but works better than Media Player and Vista MCE. This was working perfectly
on an earlier version of Vista but now crashes when attempting to set some of
the file locations via the browse button. All my 700+ albums and artwork are
viewable and playback, playlist etc are all good.

OK thanks guys I will try Winamp & Jriver. I was also thinking of
trying M Player Beta - its a Unix based player with a Windows version
- I am thinking because of this it may work well on Vista.

My main problem with WPM 11 is its very slow and organisation is
overcomplex IMHO, I have fiddled with it for ages but cannot get a
setup I can live with also the networking is terrible - finds files
but never adds them. Maybe I am doing something wrong but I have lost
patience.

The other thing is it comes set by default to remove files from
Library & Computer so watch it if you delete anything.

Cheers

Jonah

Re: Media Players

That is odd, I am running RC1 Vista and tried to install Musicmatch 10 today
twice and each time it installed but would fail to run. Vista stated that
Windows stopped the program. did you do anything atypical for the
installation?

I want to be able to play some the songs that I purchased from Musicmatch.
I donot recall which of the songs were purchased and it would take for ever
to find which ones to convert to be without the restirction.

Thanks,

Karl

I right clicked on the installation file and chose Run as Administrator.
Other than that nothing else. I am listening to some Beethoven on MM10 as I
write this.
