| | Dual monitor desktop? I use dual monitors. My laptop at home and the laptop and a 24" at work. Every time I disconnect from the work monitor my desktop defaults back to the laptop. (as it should) However, when reconnected to the 24" I have to re-configure my desktops. Is their some way in vista to save two separate Desktop profiles? Is there some vista compatible 3rd party software that can do it? thanks. -- CalypsoArt Posted via http://www.vistaheads.com |

Apparently, it isn't a part of Vista to store these profiles. Key to understanding if I can help is the use of docking stations. Do you use a docking station at work? Do you use a docking station at home? Different docking stations will have different MAC's and that is key to being able to store the settings. -solon fox |

| | Re: Dual monitor desktop? Thanks for the replies. My machine is a Gateway NX860XL. I do not use a docking station. I just plug the monitor into the Analog video out on the laptop. I woul love if there is some way native to Vista to achieve this as I'd prefer to keep unnecessary software of the machine. If not I'll give the ultramon a try. -- CalypsoArt Posted via http://www.vistaheads.com |

I don't think that it is part of Vista. You could check the Gateway support to see if they offer a utility, but I don't think they do. It looks like your best bet is the third party software route. It isn't unnecessary, if you need it. -solon fox |
