Compressed files/folders

After compressing files/folders,can the original file/folder be deleted
safely ?

Umm... the compressed file/folder IS the original/file folder, it's
just compressed (made smaller).

He/she might be referring to zipped folders, in which case I think the
original would still exist and would appear next to the original in the same
way, IIRC.
