Cookies....

If this is not the place to post this forgive me please, but I'm fairly new
to using this Windows Mail program to read messages in the MS bases. Where
in the world is the internet files/cache/cookies stored now anyway? I've
used the same method in viewing them for quite some time now, but using the
same method after getting this new laptop with vista installed isn't showing
me the files. I suppose that the files could be being handled differently
now, but I'm not sure. So are these files STILL stored/accessed the same
way?

Thank you for your time.

They are in a special folder. From IE, Tools, Internet Options,
General tab, Browsing History --- Settings, View files. It will also
reveal the actual physical location of your cookies.

Re: Cookies....

Click start, type:
%userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files
hit enter, then, in the search box, type:
cookie

Re: Cookies....

Thanks guys for your comments, I appreciate it. It's really weird, but
there was NOTHING in that folder UNTIL I loaded up this windows mail program
to see if I had any replies to my question. So in other words, the usual
websites that I go to all the time which always yielded cookies....etc., now
do NOT, but using this news reader does produce files in that folder. I
don't know, maybe it has something to do with that new "Protected Mode" in
Internet Explorer that I see sine getting this new laptop w/Vista.

Thanks again for your time.

Re: Cookies....

I find my Vista IE7 cookies in two places:

C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies
C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies\Low

You have to first change the folder options to Show Hidden Files and Folders
AND uncheck Hide Protected Operating System Files in order to see these
cookie files.

By the way, I use a quick and nifty tool called Karen's Cookie Viewer to
find and manage my cookies; can be found at:

There's a third place: wherever your temporary Internet files are
stored.
