Any way to customize the toolbar?

Well, MS took away one of my favorite features in explorer, the task pane.
Now, I can find any way to customize the toolbar. Is this gone also? I
want an "Up" button there.

Re: Any way to customize the toolbar?

the "up one folder" Button is obsolete, as you can now navigate in your
directories by just clicking the foldername in the Adressbar and see all the
subfolders and one click more you are there ..

This feature is one of the major improvements in Vista compared to XP.

How is having to look for something, taking 15-30 seconds, an improvement
over spending less than one second clicking the Up folder that is always in
the same position?

Re: Any way to customize the toolbar?

OK, I see now. The addressbar is pretty slick, so I don't think I'll miss
my Up button.

The new Address Bar adds a bread crumb navigation structure, featuring drop
down menus along the current navigation path, making it possible to easily
backtrack or navigate forward, anywhere along an address location.

Using the mouse is always slow not matter how you do it, it the "up"-
functionality is what you want press Backspace. Learn the keyboard
shortcuts and you will be able to navigate your computer much faster and
reduce the risk of carpal tunnel syndrome along with other troubles.

Another "my way is just as good" posting... Backspace takes you "back", not
up one folder. Back is not always Up.

Oh, you're right. Never noticed, is it new for Vista or is it just my
usage-paterns?

Re: Any way to customize the toolbar?

It might be an improvement for some scenarios, but it is definately a
detriment in many others. I guess nobody asked the power users...
I don't mind having the breadcrumbs bar, just give me the Up Arrow back!
Problems with current design:
1. Learning curve -- you have to re-learn how to use the common UI
2. It is much slower to go N-levels you can't move the mouse to the known
location and click n times, instead you have to look at the path and find the
right place -- that is slower
3. There is no way to copy the current path with one click you have to mouse
and click on the icon to switch to the path view to copy the path first
4. Keyboard shortcut BACKSPACE now does backwards in history instead of up
folder!!!

Questions:
1. Is there a way to bring the up button back? -- customize the bar?
2. Is there a way to show the path by default like //blah/blah isntead of
Blah >blah > blabreadcrumbs?h
