Multiple POPUPS

I am having issues with my internet. I have popups that keep popping up and I
have the blocker turned on high, what am I doing wrong? I have reseted my
internet settings; nothing. I have restored my computer; nothing. I have ran
te anti-virus, spyware, windows update, deleted history and passwrd,
installed SP1, and even disconnected my (AT&T Bellsouth Internet Security)
still I am receiving popups. I am crying out for help. PLEASE HELP ME! I
AM TIRED OF THESE POPUPS.

RE: Multiple POPUPS

Hi,

You haven't described the kind of Pop-Ups that you're getting. I also don't
know if your security software has "active" virus and spyware protection.
Sometimes the "security" software that comes with the computer such as
free-trial Norton doesn't always do the job.

If your IE pop-up blocker is on and your ATT security spyware and adware
blockers are on (and they do a good job) then I can only suggest from my own
past experiences that it seems that you may have some adware planted in your
computer. Lately, have you visited any websites that offer something for
"free"? Certain websites that offer something for free are notorious for
planting adware/spyware in computers' OS.

Go to Yahoo! and shop for software for spyware and adware removal tools. I
won't make any recommendations because ti's arguable which is better.

I never had adware/spyware problems with my Vista but I have with my XP
machines a few years ago. With my XP machines I found that the best way of
getting rid of planted adware was to erase the drive and reinstall the OS.
Yup, it's a chore but it gets the trick done. But don't reinstall the OS
until you have exhausted all other possible solutions.

good luck-

oscar

RE: Multiple POPUPS

Install Spybot Search & Destroy from link below, and scan your System.
If prob still there, rescan in Safe Mode; instructions below.
And scan with your Anti-virus while there as well.

http://www.spybot.info/en/index.html

Spybot Search & Destroy 1.5.2 is a very good, FREE Anti-Spyware Program.
Download, install, update, and immunize your System with it.
Then SCAN with it.
Update it, and scan your System once a fortnight.

Important re: Safe Mode
If you happen to find a problem that you can’t uninstall / delete, reboot
the computer, and go into Safe Mode.
To get into Safe mode, tap F8 right at Power On / Startup, and use UP arrow
key to get to Safe Mode, then hit ENTER.
RESCAN your computer with Spybot S & D while in Safe Mode.
