Need to change to Windows Live Mail, HOW

Using Vista home premium with MSN Mail thur MSN Premium Subscription from
Qwest. I have been receiving error messages that I can not use the old mail
and that I will have to convert to a POP3 Protocol for Vista.
How do I sucessfuly transfer and convert all my existing email folders?
I do not want to change my Email Address or Destroy my History.
Please Advise.. I can use some detail instructions, where available.

Re: Need to change to Windows Live Mail, HOW

From the subject line it seems that you need help to set Windows Live Mail
as the default mail client in the system(and that you have already installed
it). Please tell whether that is the case.
Which mail client do you currently use?
Please post here the complete and accurate error messages exactly as they
appear on screen. Also,if I have got you right,it seems you want to configure
a POP3 e.-mail account for MSN mail in Windows Live Mail.Is it so?
I don't think your e.-mail address would change.Your existing e-.mail
folders too would be successfully imported.Do you want help importing
e.-mail account settings and messages into Windows Live Mail?

You might be a "mainframeguy" but your expertise in that arena doesn't
translate too well to PCs and Usenet.

Re: Need to change to Windows Live Mail, HOW

MSN 9.5 is not affected by any of the changes you are reading about.
Windows Mail and Outlook will no longer support hotmail. But MSN 9.5 will
continue to. You need take no action.

Re: Need to change to Windows Live Mail, HOW

Please check related threads in microsoft.public.msn.discussion and
microsoft.public.windows.live.mail.desktop newsgroups. Qwest MSN users
report that (a) pop3 access to live.com aka MSN aka Hotmail servers is
possible for current subscribers to MSN Premium/Qwest DSL, (b) Outlook
Express continues to work using HTTP protocol for these users, and (c) MSN
Mail continues to work as normally. If you like, you could also continue to
use MSN Mail using pop3 to access your current "@msn.com" e-mail.

Access functions that formerly required use of MSN Explorer through the
Qwest MSN member site, http://member.q.com. This includes adding and
deleting secondary accounts, resetting password, modifying user profile,
etc.

You may have noticed that Qwest is pushing people to "Upgrade for free [to
Windows Live] and unify your online world". Any time you want to "unify
your online world" you can go to http://get.live.com and download the
software, which includes the Windows Live Mail desktop client, but this is
not necessary.

Feel free to post any additional questions you may have. The other
newsgroups named above may be more appropriate.

Cheers,

Earle

As far the e.-mail messages of Windows Live Hotmail are concerned, they can now be accessed using Out-look:

Re: Need to change to Windows Live Mail, HOW

Hiren, we love you dearly but please use plaintext in the newsgroups. That
guarantees proper rendering on all newsgroup readers, etc, and has long been
the custom in usenet groups.
